This report is to determine the ways that a chosen radio station is distributed, and how it impacts the station and it's audience. Radio stations are distributed in many different ways around the United Kingdom. The most popular was to distribute radio consist of mainly DAB and FM Radio, which both are used by the major radio stations across the UK. FM Radio -  FM Radio stands for Frequency Modulation Radio, and was established on the 2nd May 1955 when the BBC started an Fm broadcasting service called the Light Programme. FM Radio uses frequencies from 87.5 MHz to 108 MHz. This type of distribution is used by choosing radio frequencies, and certain frequency numbers will play certain radios. (P2) Focus of a Radio Station

Image
This post is aimed towards the focus and theme of a specific radio station. I have chosen Nitro FM (96.2), where I will explain the show, and what they program to suit their style and needs for a specific radio station such as Nitro FM. I will also explain the differences between Nitor Fm's listening population and figures to other stations. Nitro Fm is a very local radio station owned by Santa Pod Raceway, which is in Wellingborough, England. Nitro Fm will only stream on live racing weekends at Santa Pod Raceway, however it is listened to by fans from all over the world, with quite a few being from America. The radio station will have many different activities. they play music in the morning and evening when there is not racing. This is for people that are camping on the grounds to tune into in their tents or caravans. The music that they play usually is modern and classic rock, and mainly indie music. However, they take online requests from people so in those times they will play...

(M1) Structure of a Radio Station

Image
Nitro FM is a radio station based in Wellingborough, Northampton. It is based in a place named Santa Pod Raceway, and is used as a part time radio station for the trackside and on track event. The radio station is part time as it is only used when there are significant events at the raceway, which is usually around once a month from March to September. The station involves commentating racing as well as playing music in between runs. They will often shout out people who are returning and if it is their birthday, and take music requests from listeners.  The production creates meaning through it's commentary, choice of music and choice of radio shows that they play throughout the event. The meaning created here is a much more personal reading experience, which also brings a sporting edge with live commentary. This generates a more personal feel to the racing, as you can listen to the live racing whether you are trackside, and are hearing it through speakers, if you are in your carava...

(P1) Describe the different radio industry operations.

Radio is used every day by millions of people across the UK. This is most popular when people are driving, as cars can access radio extremely easily. This is also popular as people cannot use their phones and drive. This means that many radio stations across the UK get a range of listeners, as stations stream from regionally to nationally. Stations such as Hallam FM have much more regional listeners, as they are based in Sheffield and stream to people in the Yorkshire area. They often do cash giveaways ranging from £5,000 to £250,000, this is as they are an independent local radio station, which means that they run adverts and make money from them, which means that they can give money back to listeners as they are not controlled by the government due to their funding.  Public radio -  Public. radio stations are usually national stations, for example, BBC radio 1 and 2 are public radio stations. They are funded by an audience licensing fee and government funding. This means tha...
