(P4) Creating a Proposal

Proposal and Treatment

The radio show that I am making in my groups is mostly aimed at music artists in the area. This means that we will discuss artists from Yorkshire as a whole, but mainly focus on popular and upcoming artists in the South Yorkshire area, this means that we will review artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, and the Reytons. The target audience of this show would be teenagers and young adults, people who are more interested in the indie/rock style music that the show will mostly cover. This means that the show should be at times when these people are active, for example, it should run after school hours, so the younger audience are able to watch the show after school. The air time for this show would be past 4pm, and no later than 7pm, as this is the time after school where people are likely to listen to radio shows, maybe coming home from school or just being at home.

The show would realistically start with music streaming, which will not be on the sample we create, however for around an hour before the radio show starts there will be music and advertisements playing. This will give the radio show a platform to create revenue to fund not only the show but also things such as giveaways and radio shows. The4 content streamed after this will be driven by the theme of the radio show. This means that they will be focus on talk shows and quizzes about classic and modern local bands, making the premise of the radio show to entertain and to inform. This also means that the radio station would be focused to a larger group in these sections, as they include both older bands considered 'classics' from decades ago which is more targeted towards older people, as well as new and upcoming bands which are more popular amongst younger ages.

The funding for this radio show would be mainly through advertisements or sponsorships, however a more informal way of making money is through crowdfunding which is useful for a newer show as it does not need money to bring in money. Our radio show is purely a sample show using equipment that is already available to us, that we will not need to purchase or rent. This means that funding for our radio show is not needed, however the before mentioned examples would be useful ways to make money if the show was full time.

For our radio show we would need a small amount of concise equipment. This will include things such as microphones, computers, internet, audio software, and connectivity to local or national networks to stream the radio station. The equipment that we need is readily available to us, for example, we have microphones and computers with internet access, as well as adobe audition, which is the software that we will be using to record, edit, and finalise our show to make sure that everything is perfected.

Our script for the radio show was fairly short, as for most of our sections we made it up as we went to make it more believable and natural, to sound more like a conversation than a serious radio show. The show starts off with a description of what the radio show is about, and an explanation of who we are, as well as what we will cover throughout the show such as gameshows. Then we cover some brief facts about a music artist or song, which will then move us into playing a song and maybe a group of advertisements. We then move onto our first show after this, which will be in no specific order, and play another song after this. This occurs two more times for our other games in the show, and then at the end we call the radio show off and play a final song.

Our advertisement script will be fairly short as it is only a burst of information with not a lot of speaking. This can be done quickly and will probably be changed around throughout the process.
